Tallis Vespers for All Saints

The Cathedral Choir performs Thomas Talliss Lamentations of Jeremiah by candlelight, in the twilight of the nave. A service of readings, prayer, and music in the English cathedral tradition.

A Night with Herbert Howells

The Cathedral Schola joins the Musica Sacra Chamber Players for an evening of Howellss psalm settings, the Collegium Regale canticles, and a premiere from a living composer.

Advent Lessons & Carols

The beloved annual service, a meditation in word and song on the coming of the Christ Child. The Cathedral Choir sings the great Advent carols of the English tradition. Doors open at 4:15; overflow seating available.

Midnight Mass

The Solemn Mass of the Nativity, sung to full orchestra. Prelude carols begin at 10:30; the Mass proper begins at 11:00. Bring a coat — the Cathedral is cool and candlelit.

Choral Evensong for Candlemas

The Feast of the Presentation. Choral Evensong with the Cathedral Choir, the great Nunc Dimittis sung by candlelight. The Cathedral is dark; the candles are many.

Holy Week Triduum

Three nights of solemn liturgy beginning Maundy Thursday: the Mass of the Lords Supper, the Veneration of the Cross on Good Friday, the Great Vigil of Easter on Holy Saturday.

The Catechumenate

A year-long journey into the Christian faith, for those preparing for Baptism, Confirmation, or Reception. Mondays at 7:00, the Dean's office.

The Forum

Sundays between services at 9:00. Adult teaching on Scripture, theology, church history, and the Christian life. This autumn: "The Psalms in the Life of the Church."

Lenten Retreat

A three-day retreat at St. Columba's Abbey, for parishioners preparing their hearts for Holy Week. Silent, prayerful, in the company of the monks.
